Poland aims to abolish excise tax on small and medium-sized cider producers, Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Wednesday
Polish officials have said that cider producers enjoy similar privileges in EU countries including Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Spain, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Italy.

Poland is the largest apple producer in Europe. After farmers were hit by spring frosts, production this year is expected to fall to 3 million tonnes, down from about 4 million tonnes in 2016.

Poland exports about a quarter of its harvest of the fruit, with the most apples heading to Belarus. In the 2016/2017 season Poland sold 1.09 million tonnes abroad, 11 percent more than in the previous season.
